Guest quarters and other facilities

Visitors wishing to overnight can rent a simple jungle lodge or a hall called the Coffee Warehouse (Gudang Kopi) with a raised wooden deck.


1. The jungle lodges, built in 2010-11, include:

  • The Kenari House, which is a platform house (9 x 7m) with a splendid view overlooking the arboretum in a valley and Mt Pangrango looming in the background. With a large verandah, a common room, two small bedrooms, two bathroms and a kitchen, the bungalow is suitable for small groups or large ones of up to 20 persons. The well-polished floorboards are of durian wood.

  • The Magnolia Cabin, a one-room platform house (5x4.5m) for a couple or small group (no more than 6 persons), with a lounging area and bathroom under the house.
  • The Puspa Cabin, another one-room small platform house (5 x 4m) for a couple or small group (no more than 6 persons), with a lounging area and 2 bathroomsunder the house.
  • The Longan Cabin, another one-room small platform house (4 x 3m) for a couple or small group (no more than 4 persons), with a lounging area and 3 bathrooms under the house. The design by Pk Boy Rifahi is droll.

2, The Coffee Warehouse (Gudang Kopi) got its name from serving as a warehouse for coffee picked on the property some years ago. The floor of rasamala planks is 20x 3 meters and can serve as a venue for meetings and as a sleeping area for groups of as many as 40 persons. There are 25 mattresses. Four washrooms are found adjacent to the hall.

 

Many activities are suitable for the rasamala deck:

  • Sleep
  • Discussion
  • Relax, especially when it is raining outside
  • Eat on decklesehan-style.
  • Massage
  • Meditation and religious activities
  • Yoga, tai-chi
  • Chess & other board games
  • Use LCD projector for films or presentations
  • Games for kids
  • Large jigsaw puzzles
  • Work while using laptops

 

Immediately below the hall is a covered area serving as both an outdoor kitchen and a dining area. For those who wish to cook, VB provides a gas stove, pots and pans, a kettle, and plates and glasses. Those who prefer not to cook can order catered food through Pk Jai with a choice of vegetables from the organic farm plus fish, chicken or meat. Guests can order barbecued kid goat or lamb from VB.
Other facilities include:

  • A small spring-fed dipping pool.
  • Playthings for kids including a slide, swings and an observation deck in a tree,
  • A fish pond, and
  • A camping area for up to  20 tents.  When tents are used, VB can accomodate up to about 75 overnight visitors.  For guests without their own tents, VB can facilitate use of a rental service.
